Like the Israelites in the Battle of Jericho, so today, “The Battle is the Lord’s” and we have The Ark!

Inspired by the watercolor, Vessel of the Preborn Jesus by artist Lea Ravotti, The Original Mary, Ark of The New Covenant Statue moves to the front lines as the Blessed Virgin Mary is honored with her dignified title as Ark of The New Covenant.

Central to understanding the mystery of the Incarnation and Mary’s role in salvation history, is a focus on Jesus in the Preborn aspect of His life. Signs and Wonders editor Maureen Flynn, hoping to inspire the faithful with this latest piece of artwork showcasing Jesus as a Preborn baby, invited Mary, Ark of the New Covenant to be in the Sanctuary of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception on Sept. 20, 2014 for the International Week of Prayer and Fasting.

The statue was on the cover of the program for the day’s event that highlighted speakers such as Dr. Scott Hahn and EWTN’s Johnnette Benkovic, Women of Grace.
